New Mexico faces a scarcity of trained experts to help small businesses navigate evolving cyber threats and mandates. The impact on over 50,000 underserved companies and organizations in the state will be significant.

SecureNM™ is committed to addressing these needs by providing business and community leaders with the knowledge and tools they need to survive and thrive in the new cyber economy. The Education & Outreach Group has three mandates:

1. 1. Make owners, managers, and executives aware of cybersecurity issues affecting small businesses and organizations
   2. Provide outlets for Special Interest Groups to promote issues specific to their industries' or local needs
   3. Disseminate the FREE Cyber-safe Peer Review™ Self-Assessment Guide to all New Mexicans

The group has already held one public presentation on general cybersecurity issues. Future presentations are planned for recruiting cybersecurity talent, reaching out to potentially CMMC-impacted contractors, an industry standards coalition, and a just formed public policy group.

Members may participate in special interest groups and then collaborate with the Education & Outreach peer group to promote awareness of specific issues and concerns.
